Dr. Kendra Taira Field is an award-winning historian of African American and Afro-Native experience in the United States and scholar of family history and genealogy. Field is the author of Growing Up with the Country (Yale, 2018) and is currently completing The Stories We Tell (W.W. Norton), tracing the history of African American genealogy from the Middle Passage to the present. Field is the Gerald R. Gill Associate Professor of History and Director of the Center for Public History at Tufts University. She is co-founder of the Du Bois Forum and chief historian of the 10 Million Names Project.
